From military medicine to smarter clinical education.
Following my honorable discharge in 2001, I worked as a phlebotomist for seven years while pursuing respiratory care. At West Virginia Northern Community College, I received the Floyd W. Lasure Scholarship for academic excellence, was selected for the West Virginia All-State Academic Team, and was inducted into Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
I earned an Associate in Applied Science in Respiratory Care in 2008, became a Certified Respiratory Therapist, and earned the Registered Respiratory Therapist credential three months later. In 2012, I completed a Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Care at Grand Canyon University and later earned the Adult Critical Care Specialist credential.
Today, I work as a Registered Respiratory Therapist for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs at James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital in Tampa, Florida. Somewhere along that road, I started thinking about the students coming up behind me and the tools I wished I'd had. That idea became Medical Education Dynamics.

None of this exists without my beautiful wife of 24 years, Crystal Shannon. She believed in me when I didn't believe in myself. When I had doubts, she encouraged me. When I panicked because I thought I'd lost everything, she's the one who saved it.
She has given up a lot of time without me, and put up with a lot of "Hey, look at this!" and "Hey, what do you think about this?" Through all of it, she kept me looking at the bigger picture. She would say, "You are going to help so many people with this app" — and that was the drive I needed.
